Early this year the Climate Champion for Tuvalu former Prime Minister Rt. Hon Enele Sosene Sopoaga committed to provide an opportunity for young people of Tuvalu to raise their voice, speak out what they need heir future to be. A Climate Change Youth Forum was convened by the Department of Climate Change and Disaster under his able leadership in Funafuti. As an outcome youths of Tuvalu produced the Funafuti Declaration on Youth and Climate Change.

The Climate Change Department and its Projects on Water Sector will celebrate the World Water Day on the 22nd March 2022. The Deparment and Projects willconduct awareness on key stakeholders and the Govenment on Water.

Development of the project concept on Climate Resilient Housing Project for submission to the GCF. International and local consultant from the Abt firm is travelling with CCD Officers to the northern islands.

This meeting was initially schedule to the Q1 but was postpone due to conflicting schedules of the SPC. This project is implemented by the CCD. This is the first in-person meeting for the Steering Committee of this project. Alamoana and Betty are project officers for this project, and Pepetua oversee the implementation of the project. Formal invitations are yet to be sent out by SPC. Only an email for the ‘save the date’ has been circulated.

This is the last meeting of the PACRES project as the project is coming to end this year. Penivao is the responsible officer within CCD for this project. Funding is made available by SPREP for the attendance of 1 official.

The Chair of CANCC (RMI) has sent out a Save the Date to all members of the CANCC for the Atoll Policy Dialogue on Adaptation and the High Level Event that they are going to host. The policy dialogue will engage technical officers and experts in the area of Adaptation. The high level event will bring together Ministers for the signing of the MOU on the secretarial support for the CANCC Chair.

The GCF Secretariat has sent out a Save the Date for this regional dialogue. This is an annual event that the Fund organised to bring together NDAs, AEs, DPs, and other relevant partners to increase understanding of GCF, and at the same time focus on support for paradigm shift investments in the region. This dialogue will include a series of technical discussions and workshops targeting specific topics designed to support programming for both private and public sectors.

Tuvalu and Taiwan will co-host the first-ever GCTF workshop on "Building Climate Change Resilience in the Small Island States", in Tuvalu from 15th to 16th August 2024.The Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) was set up by the USA and Taiwan in 2015, and Japan and Australia later Joined as the full partners of the GCTF. The GCTF serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas on global critical issues and helps build the capacity of government officials, private sector actors, and civil society, as well as networking of experts around the world.
